Mario Biondi, nato a Catania il 28 gennaio 1971, è un cantante e compositore italiano. La scelta del nome d'arte è in ricordo del cognome che usava il padre, il cantante Stefano Biondi. Fin da piccolo dimostra la passione per la musica. A 12 anni inizia come corista in chiesa e, attraverso varie esperienze e tanta gavetta in giro per l'Italia, percorre un cammino professionale che sembra appartenere più a un cantante d'oltreoceano. Si perfeziona nella lingua inglese, che diventa la lingua con cui canta. Turnista nelle sale di registrazione per etichette di nicchia, dal 1988 inizia a fare da spalla a celebri big dell'epoca, come Ray Charles. Appassionato di musica soul, forgia il suo particolare timbro vocale ascoltando i dischi di personaggi come Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau e Isaac Hayes. La svolta arriva nel 2004 con This is what you are. Il singolo era stato pensato per il mercato giapponese, ma arriva anche sul tavolo delle radio europee. Il famoso dj inglese Norman Jay lo inserisce a sorpresa nella scaletta del suo programma alla BBC1 e la voce di Mario Biondi, prima ancora del suo nome, si diffonde in tutto il vecchio continente. Arriva il riconoscimento del Consolato britannico alla Cerimonia di premiazione dell'associazione UK-Italy Business. Nel 2006 esce il suo primo album, Handful of Soul, inciso col gruppo High Five Quintet, che lo porta alla ribalta facendogli conquistare, dopo soli tre mesi, il primo dei due disco di platino Nello stesso anno partecipa all'interno del progetto benefico CD tributo ad Alex Baroni "Alex -Tributo ad Alex Baroni" interpretando il brano L'amore ha sempre fame. È del 2007 la partecipazione come celebrità al Festival di Sanremo, dove duetta con Amalia Grè nel brano Amami per sempre, scritto dalla stessa Amalia Grè in collaborazione con Michele Ranauro e Paola Palma. Nello stesso anno ha pubblicato un singolo intitolato No matter, in collaborazione con il DJ Mario Fargetta. Ha interpretato cover di brani molto famosi come Just the way you are, composta nel 1978 da Billy Joel e interpretata anche da Barry White. Nel novembre 2007 viene pubblicato il doppio album con la Duke Orchestra, I love you more – Live registrato al Teatro Smeraldo di Milano nell'ottobre dello stesso anno. Nel doppio cd è inclusa, ma non indicata sul libretto (ghost track), This is what you are. Nel 2008 viene coinvolto dalla Walt Disney nel progetto di remake de Gli Aristogatti. Biondi è interprete delle due colonne sonore del film d'animazione "Everybody wants to be a cat" ("Tutti quanti voglion fare il jazz" nella versione italiana) e "Thomas O'Malley" ("Romeo il gatto del Colosseo"). Nello stesso anno viene imitato nel programma della Gialappa's band "Mai dire Martedì"; dove ripeteva il ritornello della canzone della pubblicità della Peugeot. All'ultima puntata il vero Mario Biondi è stato invitato in sala. Nel febbraio del 2009 è stato ospite al Festival di Sanremo. Ha duettato con Karima Ammar (in gara nella sezione giovani), nella canzone "Come in ogni ora". Sul palco del Teatro Ariston Burt Bacharach, produttore del disco e autore di uno dei brani, ha diretto l'orchestra ed ha suonato il pianoforte. Ha duettato con Renato Zero nel brano «Non smetterei più», contenuto nel nuovo album Presente. A maggio ha partecipato alla sesta puntata del talent show di Rai Uno Ti lascio una canzone, esibendosi in alcuni duetti con giovani promesse della canzone. Il 6 Novembre del 2009 è uscito in nuovo album If, anticipato dal singolo Be Lonely. Il 6 febbraio 2010 ha partecipato alla quinta puntata della prima edizione del talent show di Canale 5 Io canto. Col suo timbro vocale molto vicino a quello dei più noti Barry White; Isaac Hayes e Lou Rawls, Biondi dà vita a un soul jazz caldo e passionale, che sa interpretare con accenti ironici. Negli arrangiamenti dei suoi brani si nota una coloritura jazz.

Mario Biondi  is a singer and composer, born in Catania, Italy on January 28,1971. His father Stefano Biondi was also a singer. Mario's passion for music began at the early age of twelve when he sang in his church choir . His many musical experiences over time in Italy  saw him develop more and more into an artist whose scope was destined to be of an international level. For a while he w...orked as a session singer -  then in 1988 he had an important opportunity as support act to Ray Chales' Italian dates.  His love for soul music helped shape his particular vocal styling that takes its cue from great vocalists  like Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau and  Isacc Hayes. His first big break came in 2004 with the release of the single "This  Is What You Are". Originally planned for  release only in Japan, the cool and irresistible song gets noticed by European radio. Well-known DJ, Norman Jay begins to feature the song on his BBC1 show playlist and Mario's incredible voice  crosses the European continent ahead of the artist himself. The British Consulate honors him with an award during the ceremony for Best Artist representing  the Uk-Italy Business Association.
In 2006 Mario releases his debut album "Handful Of Soul", recorded with the High Five Quintet. In less than three months it goes platinum. That same year Mario records "L'Amore Ha Sempre Fame" for the tribute cd, "Alex, Tributo ad Alex Baroni" dedicated to the memory of singer,  Alex Baroni. In 2007,  at the San Remo festival Mario guests in a duet  with Amalia Grè to sing "Amami Per Sempre", a song written by Grè in collaboration with Michele Ranauro and Paola Palma. 2007 also sees the release of the single "No Matter" teamed-up with famed Italian DJ Mario Fargetta. During this time, Mario also records some inspired covers like Billy Joel's  "Just The Way You Are".
In November 2007 Mario releases a double album with the Duke Orchestra, called "I Love You More" recorded entirely live at the Smeraldo Theatre in Milano.
Mario accepts an invitation from The Walt Disney Company to record the Italian versions of "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" and "Thomas O'Malley" from the classic animated film  "The Aristocats". 
2008 saw some great collaborations with artists such as Chaka Kahn, Michael Bolton , Incognito and The Crusaders. 
In 2009 Mario is once again on the San Remo Festival stage duetting with Karima Ammar in the song "Come In Ogni Ora". The song's producer and co-writer, none other than Burt Bacharach was also on stage conducting the orchestra and playing piano.
Mario went on to yet another magical duet performance with premier Italian artist Renato Zero on "Non Smettere Più" included in Renato's album 'Presente' .
In November 2009 Mario Biondi released "If"  and the first single "Be Lonely" on the Tattica label. The album shot up the charts and went triple - platinum.
With a voice that references greats like Barry White, Issac Hayes and Lou Rawls while at the same time giving his own spin to the soul and jazz  genres,  Mario makes music passionately while at the same time, lighthearted and ironic.
In 2010, Mario clocked-in thousands of miles for an all sold-out winter and summer tour that saw him performing with his 15 piece orchestra to thrilled audiences of all ages. A live cd, "Yes You" capturing that tour was released in November, 2010.
